Improper Shaving
Improper shaving irritates your underarm skin thus there are some darkening after few weeks. Because if improper shaving, you may also have ingrown hair that causes chicken skin or raised bumps.

Solution: Remember that underarm hair grows in different directions so be sure to shave your underarms in all directions – downward, upward and sideways.

Scrubbing Too Hard
Yes, you need to exfoliate your underarm but anything excessive is not good. Too much or too hard scrubbing can irritate your skin that may result to darker underarms.

Solution: Exfoliate your underarms twice per week. This will avoid irritation from too frequent scrubbing.

Heavily-Scented Deodorants
Strong chemicals like alcohols and fragrances can cause darker underarms (depends on the chemicals present).

Solution: If body odor can be managed by bathing then opt to it. If not, use deodorants that are not heavily-scented or opt to natural ones like lemon.

Genetics
Sadly, genes sometimes contribute to darker underarms but it doesn’t mean that because everyone in your family has it you also have to deal with it.

Solution: There are now laser treatments available on salons that can remove the unwanted hair and can whiten your underarm skin inside out.

So why bother to have whiter underarms (most especially the women)? Let’s face it…darker underarms are so unattractive that restrict you from wearing sleeveless and tank tops. It may also cause you humiliation. So why not bother?

  1. I shave my underarms, but now im trying waxing and IPL. mas ok yung results. and my beauty therapist told me nakaka-help talaga to prevent dark underarms.

  2. Nowadays there are no impossible. Women can be beautiful or whiter the way they want it if they have money to pay for beauty treatments and surgery but it is still good to have natural beauty and skin 🙂

  3. Deodorant are always the culprit. Don’t use it if it’s not needed or choose a mild deo instead. We can only blame it to the commercials. Usually yun pa ang mga nakakaitim.

  4. I’ll let you in to a little secret: women hair don’t shave! wehehehe I just can’t help but laugh when I get to peek, but there are those like me who are meticulous about it but there are also those who just doesn’t care…
